How the limits work
What counts as a person
A person is one distinct colleague who has access to one of your tools or a pending invite. You don't count. Give the same colleague access to ten tools and that's still one person.
People whose access you revoked, or whose access or invite has expired, don't count. You can revoke access or set an expiry date from the app at any time.
What counts as a run
A run is one press of Run on a tool page, by a colleague or by you. Runs are counted for the whole workspace per calendar month in UTC. Each run can take up to 30 minutes and keep a log of up to 1 MB.
File transfer
Our servers pass form values and files between the browser and your computer. Uploaded files and the results your program produces count toward the monthly transfer limit: 1 GB on Free, 50 GB on Pro. One run can carry up to 8 files, at most 25 MB each and 100 MB in total. Uploaded files are deleted 24 hours after a run ends and results after 7 days.
One computer per workspace
Every plan connects one computer to your workspace. Jobs run there under your user account, one at a time. While a run is in progress the tool page shows Busy, and a new run is turned away until the computer is Ready again; nothing is queued. Pairing a new computer replaces the old one.
Changing plans
Upgrade or cancel from Billing in the app. When you cancel, Pro stays on until the cancellation takes effect.
Downgrading to Free deletes nothing. If you're over the Free limits of 1 tool or 3 people, your tools and invites stay as they are, but you can't add more until you're back under the limit, and runs follow the Free cap of 100 a month. Archiving a tool frees its slot.
Payments
Prices are in US dollars. VAT or sales tax is added at checkout where it applies. Stripe processes payments as the merchant of record. Button is made by Bitgate, Inc.
Pricing questions
- Do the people who run my tools need a paid account?
- No. The colleagues you invite never pay anything to use Button. They open the link from their invite email, sign in with Google or a one-time email code using that address, and run the tool.
- Is there a yearly plan?
- Yes. Pro is $144 a year, which comes to $12 a month. It has the same limits as the $15 monthly plan: 50 tools, 250 people, 5,000 runs a month and 50 GB of file transfer a month.
- When do the monthly run and transfer limits reset?
- At the start of every calendar month, in UTC. Every run in your workspace counts toward the monthly cap, including the ones you start yourself.
- Do pending invites count toward my people limit?
- Yes. An invite that hasn't been accepted yet holds a slot, so it counts toward the 3 people on Free or 250 on Pro. Revoke the invite if you need the slot for someone else.
- What happens when I hit a limit?
- The action that would go over the limit is refused with a message that names the limit, and nothing you already have is removed. Upgrade, free up a slot, or, for runs and transfer, wait for the next month.
- Does Pro make my tools run faster or at the same time?
- No. Jobs run on your own computer, not on our servers. Free and Pro both connect one computer per workspace, run one job at a time on it, and stop a run after 30 minutes.
- What happens if I downgrade to Free with 10 tools published?
- Nothing is deleted. Your 10 tools and the people you invited stay in your workspace. While you're over the Free limits you can't add tools or people, and runs and transfer follow the Free limits of 100 runs and 1 GB a month.
